Shapeshifting

Sunset is pink
on the belly of the dragon
highlighting his majestic scales
as he emerges 
from the murky purple water
of the swamp
magnificent
until the clouds reshape
and he dissolves
into curling puffs
of smoking breath
all that remain
of his splendor
