DEVIL’S CAROUSEL

To celebrate #TBT (throwback Thursday) I thought I would post a poem I wrote when I was younger. It makes me laugh now and reminds me of my infatuation with Stephen King stories.

The music was loud

People were noisy

Totally oblivious

To the steady beat

The anxious need

They would all feed

The carnival horses

Dove up then down

The carousel ride

A continuous round

Nobody noticed; death

Sat patient on a horse

Never getting off

Waiting for close

Waiting to lead

These adorably hungry

Merry-go-round steeds

Tonight they would ride

Past their perimeter

And instead of dreams

Nightmares…

Yes at least one

Beautifully black mare

Would consume the children

Who visited the fair
