“a poem in which the other person

doesn’t fall out of love with you.

where they destroy your fears

instead of their promises. a poem

in which you never needed to

forgive to be able to forget.

in this unspecific poem,

the other person stays, and you

are not left with the silence.

when you never needed to

smoke something in in order

to smoke their love out. a poem

in which you are not the one

begging for their return

because they never left

to begin with. in this poem

no one is to blame, and no one

is right or wrong. in which

you both come out as the hero.

in this poem, neither of you

are using your words to spite

their memory. in this poem,

both of you wanted what was

best for each other. a poem

in which there is no such thing

as lost love. a poem about

what happens when two people

love each other more

than they love themselves.”
