When David Grimm was doing research for his new book, Citizen Canine: Our Evolving Relationship with Cats and Dogs, he had a hard time finding any scientific studies on feline intelligence. Ádám Miklósi, a Hungarian scientist and one of the world’s top animal cognition experts, told Grimm that “we did one study on cats – and that was enough!” Not surprisingly, when it comes to testing their intelligence, cats appear to be the world’s most uncooperative research subject.
