Thanks for asking! Haha. Well they already had some fun with a stopgap rigged pump and plugging the leak while at sea, and now they have made it to shore. So to continue the journey at a reasonable speed they are going to careen the ship on the beach and actually repair the hull. I learned today that pirates were all about careening their ships and clearing off sea life frequently because it kept their ships light and fast. But from the little bit I could find it sounds like if you are going to do that you do have to take the cargo out first. The things I do to write like 5 sentences.
Also I found this book on bilge pumps surprisingly well written and kinda romantic (if sinking 18th century ships are kinda romantic):
