In this gem from the British Pathé news archive recently uploaded to YouTube, the team from the radio show Merry Go Round – including Jon Pertwee – arrive at the Radiolympia (Radio Olympia) exhibition in 1947. They pull up outside in an open veteran car which stops with a jolt, making them all nearly fall out. A crowd of people watch from the street.

Accompanying future Doctor Who star Jon Pertwee is actor Eric Barker, Barbara Sumner, Humphrey Lestoq, Pearl Hackney (Barker’s ‘secretary’) and George Crow.
