A HELPING HAND
Most food banks are in need of donations year round. You don’t need to bring a truckload of groceries in order to assist families in need. Everything counts. A few things are always of greater need however. Non-perishable protein sources such as beans, peanut butter, and canned fish are always welcome. Condiments are often in short supply as are feminine hygiene products. Baby supplies can be particularly welcome; diapers, wipes, bottles, bibs, and new toys.
It’s not difficult to find a local food bank. Call you town municipal building, library or a local house of worship. The organization Feeding America has a locator if you should have trouble finding someplace on your own. http://feedingamerica.org/foodbank-re... (Although we can’t imagine that you would.)
Please note that these food banks are usually serving families and individuals who need some short term assistance. Some do not accept your hotel shampoos or items of that sort. But organizations serving the homeless are often happy to accept these items for their hygiene kits. Personal size soap, shampoo, toothpaste, talcum powder, mouthwash etc. would be very welcome. A much needed item among the homeless is clean, NEW, white athletic socks.
The most severe winter weather is behind us but for many the nights are still long and cold. Give back where you can.
