Just Turned 41? You Could Be The Next Doctor!

The Radio Times has spent a vast amount of time working out something a little pointless but also kinda fun.

They worked out that if you turned 41 on Thursday 17th April 2014, you might just be the Thirteenth Doctor! It’s a big “might,” however. Big.

How did they work this out? Well, they averaged out the age of the Doctors and figured out that 44 is the age to be a Time Lord. Next, they grabbed a calculator, went to Wikipedia and tried to work out how long each Doc lasted in the role (apart from Mr. McGann and Mr. Everybody-Hurts-Sometimes). After initially getting 36 years, they remembered to carry the 1 and instead settled on three years. They took this off 44, figuring Capaldi will also be the Doctor for three years (here’s hoping for more). That, if you’ve been keeping up, comes to 41.

So how did they work out the actual date? Well…

“Of all the thirteen actors who have played the Doctor, four of them have birthdays in April – William Hartnell, Peter Davison, David Tennant and Peter Capaldi - making it the most popular month of birth of future Doctors. If you take an average date of all four of their birthdays, you get the 17th, yes the 17th of April.”

Of course, William Hartnell wasn’t actually born in April at all; that was the month of his death (indeed, his actual date of birth remains a mystery – Ed). He was born in January. As was Tom Baker, fact fans.

Overlooking that, the Radio Times reckons that the odds are in your favour if you turned 41 on 17th! It may also help if you’re an actor who is quirky and just that little bit magical.

Thanks, Radio Times. I think I speak on the behalf of all Whovians when I say, you’ve just enriched our lives.
