After Reading: TYGER TYGER by Kersten Hamilton

Teagan Wylltson’s best friend, Abby, dreams that horrifying creatures—goblins, shape-shifters, and beings of unearthly beauty but terrible cruelty—are hunting Teagan. Abby is always coming up with crazy stuff, though, so Teagan isn’t worried. Her life isn’t in danger. In fact, it’s perfect. She’s on track for a college scholarship. She has a great job. She’s focused on school, work, and her future. No boys, no heartaches, no problems.Until Finn Mac Cumhaill arrives. Finn’s a bit on the unearthly beautiful side himself. He has a killer accent and a knee-weakening smile. And either he’s crazy or he’s been haunting Abby’s dreams, because he’s talking about goblins, too... and about being The Mac Cumhaill, born to fight all goblin-kind. Finn knows a thing or two about fighting. Which is a very good thing, because this time, Abby’s right. The goblins are coming. (Goodreads)

I have to admit I've never been much of a fan of fae, mainly because they kind of freak me out. Well, at least the stories that I feel reflect the reality of the fae--the beautiful but crewel and amoral (if not evil) version thereof. They're just a little...creepy. Anyhow, this book really brought that home, and the goblins as they're called here are distinctly creepy. That being said, I really enjoyed the book. The myths and stories that explained the world were really well done and quite engaging. I liked Teagan quite a bit, and her brother was just too cute. I could have handled getting to know Finn a little more, but I imagine there's more to come in the rest of the series. Overall, this was a fun and satisfying read. Lots of interesting details and an interesting world to get lost in!

Have you read this one? What do you think of the fae?
