Its been a while since I’ve watched a movie trailer and decided I really, really wanted to watch the movie itself. The idea of the movie Transcendence was alluring and ticked all the right boxes for me: starring Johnny Depp and Rebecca Hall and Morgan Freeman, Artificial Intelligence being used, a dying scientist who uploads his entire conscience into a machine to save him, and something that goes terribly wrong afterwards. What’s not to look forwards to?
As a said, I’ve been waiting forever for the movie to be released and I had very high expectations for it but I was left a bit disappointed. Transcendence is the kind of movie you’d want to watch in the cinema and after you’ve watched it once, you know you wouldn’t want to bother watching it again. For one thing, the pace of the movie was a tad too slow and dragging at some scenes then too quick and in other scenes. Then when the computer evolves, it evolves to the point of becoming the Terminator meets Frankenstein and just gets to the point of being absolutely ridiculous!
I don’t want to spoil the movie for your, you should go watch it and form your own opinion but I am warning you, you may be bored by the end of it all. In my humble opinion the story is very good and had so much potential, perhaps a remake in the far future might make me want to watch it again but not anytime soon.
