Trying Starbucks New Hazelnut Macchiato
Its been a while since I’ve stepped foot inside a Starbucks, especially after the enforcement of the very annoying customer name taking policy. However, there are days when you need something familiar to ground you and a Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks anywhere on the planet is just the thing. My current favourite drink which also happens to be my favourite cold coffee drink is Starbucks’s iced skinny triple shot caramel macchiato and while in London I needed a little pick me up so I went into Starbucks with the every intention of ordering myself one. Standing at the counter, I noticed new macchiato flavours I haven’t seen before: vanilla, hazelnut!, plus good old caramel.
Needless to say the Hazelnut spoke to me from the ad pictures, asking me to order it at once. I of course did, one tall skinny hazelnut macchiato with a little macchiato loyalty card that gives you a free one for every three macchiatos you enjoy!
There was a generous amount of hazelnut syrup drizzled on the face of my fluffy macchiato, and as I sat down to enjoy my cup I could detect the strong whiffs of hazelnut wafting off my hot drink, engulfing me in a warm delicious air, like the smell of freshly baked cake with hazelnuts at home. I am not a fan of nuts on their own but when baked within dessert, caramelised and added to a salad, or added to a drink syrup style, they can be the most wholesome thing ever!
Needless to say the Hazelnut macchiato was my favourite drink during this past trip to London and I dare say that I miss it. How hard can it be to bring hazelnut syrup into Kuwait and introduce the hazelnut macchiato? I didn’t try the vanilla, I expected it would be boring and the vanilla flavour would be all lost in the coffee flavour especially with my double and triple shot habits, but the hazelnut is strong enough to hold its flavour and delicious enough to provide a new kick to a Starbucks favourite.
I wonder when it will make it here though, then again it took them forever to introduce the gingerbread latte and I’m still waiting for the VIA instant coffee sachets to make an appearance in Kuwait so I don’t suppose it will be anytime soon. Do give it a try if you are in a place that serves it, if you like the caramel macchiato you might like it as well.
