A Sit Down with Renee Rose about The Bossman

Normandie

BossmanToday I’m welcoming the wonderful Renee Rose to the blog. When Renee came out with this yummy Mafia/spanking romance I was super curious about some things. Rather than keep her answers to myself I thought I’d share them with y’all…

Normandie: What was your inspiration for this book?

Renee: One of the challenges as a spanking author is to make spanking hot, but also believable and acceptable. To me, non-consensual spankings are the hottest, but in a contemporary setting, they can make the spanker appear amoral. It occurred to me that a mafia hero’s morals are more flexible, and a non-consensual spanking might fit in.

N: Which character was your favorite or which one did you relate to the most?

R: I loved them both, but Sophie has a feisty spunk that made her a favorite. I wouldn’t say I relate to either, except that I am also a body worker like Sophie (though not a massage therapist!).

N: How did you know about “the Mafia life”? What kind of research did you do?

R: I’ve always been a fan of mafia movies and series. I also checked out the documentary series “I Married a Mobster” and was thrilled to find the women described exactly the sort of men and situations I imagined.

N: You write a lot of books, have a family, and several other jobs. How do you do it?

R: Er…at the moment I feel like I’m unraveling! I did not plan on releasing four new books in four weeks in the same month I was leaving the country for a conference and also need to prepare for the biggest PTA fundraiser of the year! LOL.

I guess I’m the sort of person who never really stops. I think it can be annoying for those around me. It’s probably why my parents kept me in dance classes through my childhood– I have a lot of energy to expend!

N: You recently went to Eroticon 14 in the UK. What was your biggest takeaway from the conference that you can share with those of us who had to stay home?

R: I highly recommend Eroticon because the community who attends is incredibly supportive. You get no sense of competition from other writers and you walk away feeling like you made real friends.

About the Bossman

Sophie Palazzo steered clear of the mafia after her father’s involvement ended with his murder. Fifteen years later, Joey La Torre, the Don’s brother himself, shows up unannounced at her massage studio and wheedles his way into a date. She has no interest in aggressive, macho men like Joey, or so she tries to tell herself, but her body just doesn’t get the message. When Joey takes her in hand with a firm bare-bottomed spanking, she ought to be furious, instead, she’s aroused. As she explores her physical desires to be dominated, she tries to keep Joey at arm’s length emotionally.

Joey knows he wants Sophie for keeps from the moment he walks into her life. She is hot, classy and full of fire, even though submission turns her on. But his involvement in the mafia is a hard limit for her, bringing to conflict his own dedication to the Family, the code of silence and his relationship with his older brother. Can he reconcile his duty to the organization and his growing need for Sophie to remain in his life permanently?
