Autism is something that is an intimate part of my life. Each year April is Autism awareness month. Alarming news is ramped throughout the media, such as the 2014 rate of autism is 1 in 68 kiddos, a scary thing. The increase is 30% in the last four years.
I want to take a different approach. I want to celebrate these remarkable children who struggle a thousand times more than you or I do on a daily basis. I have given myself a challenge. I will take all of my sales from my books (including paperbacks) in April and throw a Picnic in the Park for any family, friends or supporters living or working with autism. So that’s my plan. You can help by purchasing one of my books. Next month I will share, right on my personal blog, pics from the picnic so that you can see first hand how many beautiful smiles you've brought out.
I also have hope that my author friends may take up a personal challenge of their own in support of Autism Awareness.
