Writerly Questions Answered

1) What are you working on?

Right now I’m editing A Heart of Ice. It’s a short story prequel for the Araneae Nation series. It’s the story of how Lourdes’s parents—Reine and Ennis—met. It’s liberally sprinkled with Isolde too.

2) How does your work differ from others in the genre?

The biggest difference in my work is the series I’m most known for is about characters who have spider-like characteristics. Spider romance isn’t something I’ve ever seen before, and it’s something I enjoy writing immensely.

3) Why do you write what you write?

I love fantasy in all forms: movies, books, art. It all inspires me to dream big and indulge my imagination, to push the boundaries for my books as far as they can go.

4) How does your writing process work?

I’m a pantser, so once something has inspired me (music, art, nature, etc) I start writing. I usually have a very vague idea of the direction I expect the book to go, but they always surprise me. The best part of pantsing is learning the characters and discovering the story in much the same way as readers will.
