Not The Best April Fool Ever… [UPDATE]

Marco…Polo…Marco…wait where’s it gone? More to the point, where has it been?
Eagle-eyed Doctor Who fans yesterday spotted something that dear reader, we hoped was a sign that the legendary lost First Doctor serial Marco Polo has been found. Indeed, we originally posted a completely different article.
Sadly, despite boasting a brand new commentary track recorded by William Russell, Carole Ann Ford, Mark Eden and Director Waris Hussein and a documentary on the men who made the discovery of what is regarded as the ‘holy grail’ of missing Doctor Who episodes, we’ve been informed that it was – as we suggested at the close of the original article.
Indeed, we’ve also been reliably informed that Waris Hussein has not recorded any commentary for this release.
It seems instead that this was perhaps the most ill-judged Doctor Who April Fool yet, apparently perpetrated by another website. We continue to ponder, largely bewildered, what exactly possessed them to run this story.
We should also add that the story was scheduled to run here on Kasterborous at 4.46am to cater to our massive US audience. If you’ve stumbled across it in the UK and taken it as gospel on non-April Fools Day then you have our sincere apologies.
(With thanks to Paul Gee, Gareth Kavanagh)
