Writing, moving and still not reading.

As we entered 2014, I entered a reading slump.

No matter how hard I try or how much I want to, I just cannot for the life of me, read a new book.
I have no idea why, I love reading. But since last December, every time I pick up a new book, I put it back down after a page or two. The things is, last year I read over 300 books and a lot of them were a series so I spent a lot of time at the end of the year reading the end last books of all the series’ and a lot of them were disappointing, either because they felt rushed, unnecessary or because I just didn’t want it to end. Now I have about 8 books on my to-read shelf that are the final books of a series and I just haven’t got the will to read them, but not only that I just can’t find it in me to start any other books either, whether it’s a new series or a stand alone.
So in the meantime, I’ve been re-reading books that I’ve already read, which is okay, but not the same.

If you like reading as much as I do, you know how much this sucks. Because there is nothing quite like finishing a book for the first time.

On the good side, I’ve been writing A LOT. So I have that. I’ve started a rough draft for about 3/4 new books. One of which MAY be a series, I don’t know yet, depends on how the story progresses.

On the not so good side. I’m moving house.

I’m moving far, just closer to my family. See all my brothers and sister and parents live in the same town (the town I grew up in) where as, as son as I turned 17, I left and moved half hour away. Now eight years later, I’m moving back. Mostly so I can just go and bug my parents whenever I want – because there is nothing I like more than driving them a little bit crazy, especially my dad! But I doubt it’ll be long before they start locking their door and pretending they’re not in when ever I go over there.
So I’m about to have a very busy few months ahead of me, my plan is to get rid of everything in this place (except my clothes) and get all new for the new place. And I’m downsizing, which kind of sucks because I won’t have a spare room any more.
And then you have all the people that will be coming and going, the ones to put in new flooring, the ones that sort out the Gas and the cable guys. This is the part that I hate. I always feel like I should let them in and then go out for the day and let them get on with it.

And I need a new bed. Oh and a new Coffee Machine.

Oh, my mum has a blog. Weird right?
I was on the phone to her a week or so ago and asked what she was doing, her reply: I’m just updating my blog. I didn’t even know she knew what a blog was.
