Dave Brockie R.I.P.

Multiple sources, including Style Weekly, are reporting that Dave Brockie passed away last night at the age of 50. While perhaps best known to the world as the alter ego of Oderus Urungus, the frontman for the Grammy-nominated Gwar, as well as the DBX side-project, he also contributed to the horror genre with the well-received novel WARGHOUL and the SLAVE PIT FUNNIES comic book series. Despite sharing a publisher, I only had the opportunity to meet him once, but we spent the evening talking Splatterpunk, Edward Lee novels, and ploitics, and I found him to be incredibly funny and nice.
