Random Thoughts by Aly

Random thought of the day. It’s snowing once again and I cannot even begin to tell you how much I hate winter. I still ask myself why I live in this very cold state of Colorado. The only thing I can come up with is…it’s home. Yep! Born and raised here, and I must say the mountains are so beautiful but I very rarely visit them. The view from my house is quite stunning, especially as the snow the glistens off of the peaks, while the sun shines over them, but the cold is really beginning to get to me.

I dream of a warm beach, where my hands and feet don’t feel like ice blocks twenty-four, seven. Where the sun beats down on my golden tanned body and the sounds of the crashing waves brings me peace. Then I realize I am still here, in a cold state, with skin as white as a ghost and snow gentling falling.

I use to ski when I was younger. I loved it in fact, until one day, when I was about 17, I went skiing with my church youth group up in Breckenridge. It was a freezing cold day, colder than normal, and the wind had kicked up making it even more miserable. I hopped on that ski lift like a champ, ready to take on the slopes and then looked down and realized that I could fall to my death. That’s right! I thought I was going to die! That’s when I realized that, that would be my last ski trip. My fear of heights kicked in good and hard at that moment and I haven’t been the same since. I was so frightened, that I even had to have a friend ski down the slope with me. To be honest, I wanted to shed those damn skis and just walk down in my ski boots, but my friend wouldn’t allow that to happen. I spent the rest of the day in the ski lodge.

The moral of the story…Never take me skiing! It won’t be fun for you. Now…take me to a beach, and I’ll be the happiest girl alive!

Yeah, this post was pretty random, but I needed to rant a bit about the cold weather. I always say that I’m bat shit crazy and I think this post just might prove that to be true. LOL! But hey, I’m an artist, an author and it’s part of my job to be a bit eccentric. That’s what makes life fun! Don’t take life too seriously. Be yourself, be happy and enjoy your day!

Love,

Aly
