Hard as a Rock

Never cry, never share

never show your fear,

Never show grief or shame

or give vulnerability

a name;

Beneath that veneer

of civility,

Your nails curl inward

digging into flesh,

Cradling every good and ill

bottled up within;

Everything kept

secret,

everything you hold

So dear.
