Contract Day

When I published The Belly Dancer, my big goal was for the novel to do well enough that I would be able to publish a second novel.

Well, I have to come up with a new goal because here's the contract for book No. 2.

There's no title yet, but here's the tidy blurb the lovely people (probably my awesome editor) at Berkley wrote:

A novel set in turn of the century New York City, about a young chorus girl whose love of dancing leads her on a quest to save a venerable vaudeville house from closing...

Jeannie Mancini Hi Deanna, so glad to hear a new book is on the way! I had a feeling your next book was going to revolve around dancing since I saw you were reading a book about vaudeville awhile back. I'll be waiting to buy and read, any idea when?

DeAnna Hi, Jeannie~ You are so observant! I really need to get more of the research books I've been reading onto my list because there are so many great, great resources available.

My deadline is in April, and I think Berkley has up to 18 months after that to publish. So, it'll be awhile -- for which I'm grateful because some days my toddler runs me ragged :-)

I'll keep you posted, though!

Jeannie Mancini I recently bought an interesting old biography about Jean Avril who was a vaudeville style dancer at the Moulin Rouge, and was immortalized by Toulouse Lautrec. I have not read it yet but I suppose it would be a similar topic at the turn of the century in Paris. Good luck with the writing, I await...Jeannie

Leigh MacCallum What wonderful news! I look forward to reading of your continued success. (Now, stop reading and get back to writing!) And don't forget all the "little people" when you become rich and famous!
