The story behind Vlad V Vampire
I have many subjects and ideas of stories that I want to write into novels. “Vlad V Vampire” was not one of them. I was in the middle of writing “Folding Reality” and I got stuck (writer’s block) at the chapter about Auschwitz, Chapter 3 Hell. Instead of sulking, I remembered an excellent piece of advice given by my music professor long ago. When stuck (composer block) in the middle of a composition, don’t quit; just hit random notes and the muse will return. She was so right. However, I wasn’t composing music, I was writing a story now. Writing random words would not be of any help.
Instead, I began writing a new story, a vampire story. It was on the spur of the moment and I decided to write about a young woman meeting a real vampire on the New York subway. I had no idea what the story would be. Perhaps these were my random musical notes. And, as they say the story wrote itself.
I didn’t know how the story would end until I was in the middle of writing Chapter 9. The question rattling in my head was why was Vlad V so interested in Cat? Her blood type? That was too cliché. And then the obvious unfolded in Chapter 10. If you read the book, you know what happened. If you did not, you should read it. It is bloody good, in a good way.
Is there a follow on to Vlad V Vampire? Yes! R.I.P. (Vlad V Book 2)
