A floating utopia?

This image is chilling, for a variety of reasons. First, the technology is magnificent. If you look at the colony floating on the left you will see a dome over the top, implying the inhabitants have a way to mitigate hurricanes and inclement weather. Second, the colony on the right has green technology with wind turbines and gardens which leads me to believe this is a completely self-sustainable community.

I’m currently working on a draft of a new book that would feature a colony living in a similar situation after a post-apocalyptic event. The story is in the infancy stage, but I hope to get started on it later this year.

If you could live in a self-sustainable community; either on water or on land, would you? And why?

Nikki "The Crazie Betty" V. The idea of a self-sustaining colony is very fascinating. I would absolutely go live in a self-sustainable land based colony today but would only go for a water based one if circumstances absolutely demanded it.

Also, that pic is amazing.

Jennifer My son and I decided we would be stranded on land rather than water. We think we might have a better chance at survival. Our idea of a fun vacation does not include anything on a cruise ship!! So land based is first choice. Water only if absolutely necessary.
