Research Is So Distracting

One of the best things about writing is how it leads you down paths you might never have taken if it weren’t for the needs of a plot, or a character. Today, I’m watching videos of aerial silks for Forastero.

I’ve wanted to learn to do this for years. Unfortunately, there are no schools around here and I don’t have the infrastructure to set up silks in the house. Besides, I think my body might go into a full-on revolt if I tried any of that.

But watch this young lady go. If anyone could convince me to give it a shot, she can.

Every time I look at that video, I find myself staring out the window at the trees in the back yard and wondering if one of them would have a branch strong enough to try this out.
