Happy Book Day to Me

However long y’all have been waiting for this book, I think it was even longer for me. :-P But at last all our impatience is rewarded, for The Tropic of Serpents is out today!

It’s ended up on several “anticipated books coming out soon” lists, which I have to admit makes me exceedingly pleased: Ranting Dragon, BuzzFeed, Kirkus, and at least one other I’ve misplaced. If you are looking to obtain your very own copy, I’ve got a list of places you may buy it without leaving your chair (though this note about buying from a store does still apply).

And now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go treat myself to a nice lunch . . . and maybe also a visit to the local B&N, to make sure it’s on the shelf/pester them to put it there if it’s not. ;-)

G. Tyler Lol know your feelings. I ordered mine the day before it was to hit store shelves and have read the free sample offered by my nook and all I can say is that I cannot wait for it to hit my doorstep. I want to see how another female character from Scirland plays out in this book and I really love how Lady Trents motherhood is presented as it is both sad, unique, and dripping with interesting narrative meaning as the plot moves forward and little Jacob grows. Of course this is to say nothing of the dragons that are soon to come but when the free sample B&N provides is only 33 pages there is only so much to grab. Anyways incredibly excited to start this and hope it surpasses the first book. Also whoever made the decision to print the original hardback with sepia ink and the weathered style pages needs to be bought a drink as it makes it both a prop that lets you sink deeper into the experience and has become the only way I really suggest to read it.

Oh, believe me -- I've thanked the production guys in person! They really make the books into beautiful objects in their own right.

I hope you enjoy the book!

I am, I'm starting chapter 14 (thank god amazons shipping house is like 20 mins from my home) and I'm totally digging it. I love the addition of another female character and Bayembe and what I've seen of the Green Hell thus far have been just as interesting and detailed as the last book. Can't wait to see what the phrase "Egg-hatching season" plays out to mean.

Somewhat belated reply (my apologies), but I hope the rest will live/has lived up to your expectations!

It totally has! My girlfriend is in the midst of reading it as well and I'm really hoping to get some more of my friends to read it soon as well. Honestly my only major issue with it right now is that the 3rd is not announced yet and I don't really know of any other books that have female leads quite like Lady Trent that feel both fully fleshed out and do not have a plot revolving around amorous intents either theirs or someone else's.

The third book will be out next year! And there will be two more after that.

Holy crap that is awesome! Can't wait for the next one to hit. Any idea for what the name of the next book will be?

It's called Voyage of the Basilisk, and the revised draft went to my editor just the other day!
