LT3 Babbling - Book Blurbs
I am basically the production and marketing arm of Less Than Three Press. After Samantha and her team of fearsome editors have worked with our beloved authors to whip stories into shape, they come to me. I commission the artists, I write the official blurbs, I make the books shiny before they go on to Sasha, who turns them into the various ebook formats. I also do the print books.
Of these duties the blurb writing is probably the hardest. LT3 has a policy of keeping blurbs brief, since we all hate blurbs that go on for 3-6 long paragraphs. This can be surprisingly difficult, especially when the story is long or complicated. This is also the job for which I am most frequently thanked, usually with an OH THANK GOD I DON’T HAVE TO WRITE IT from authors ^^
Now, I am not lord and master of the blurb. As with the covers, I prefer author input. Generally I write them, then send them off to the authors so they can tweak as they like. Sometimes I get ‘looks great, thanks’. Sometimes they muck with a word or two. Sometimes I (and the author) need a drink :3 :3 :3
Since it is officially March, that means it’s time for the May releases to join the coming soon page (I also add the books to GoodReads). This is the list of titles, have fun guessing what they might be about (if you don’t already know)
Haunted Halls
Camellia
Art Criticism
Unheard Destruction
Hellhound
Won’t Back Down
Swords, Sorcery, and Sundry
The Rightful Heir
Falling for Forever
Roommate Adventure
And now that I am done stalling, off to blurb writing I go ;)
Yoooou Guys!!! Look!
