Where Aspens Quake by Tory Cates
In this sweeping Rita Award-nominated Western romance, a woman leaves her old life behind to start over at a ski ranch run by a charismatic and mysterious owner.
Kristin Jonsson was ready for a new life, but not a new man. She would save her emotions for her photography; her pictures would never disappoint her the way people could. When she meets Grayson Lowry she nearly changes her mind, but he is as afraid of commitment as she is, and far more used to fighting off temptation. Still, there are some things too strong to be resisted: the inevitability of the seasons, the turning of the leaves—and the ways of the human heart.

My thoughts:
Kristin has a hard time with her first gallery showing of her photography. She got a bad review from a harsh critic. Her job was a mess as she is overworked and her boyfriend at the time is a lawyer and a jerk. To escape she quits her job to her mom’s disappointment again and finds a job as an cross county ski instructor at a mountain resort.
Kristin shows up to meet the owner Gray Lowry. He is a harsh man until Kirstin gets to know him. What she wasn’t expecting was a handsome boss. Gray wasn’t expecting such a beautiful woman. Together they help heal each other along the way but will it be enough for their relationship to work?
The author did a wonderful job with the setting. During the read you felt like you were with Kirstin in the snow or in the lodge with her pup Pupin. The characters were well developed and intriguing. I was taken in from the very beginning. I wanted Kristin to grow and become a better person and with Gray she did. Along with Gray growing to love again. His daughter Laurie was a nice touch and loved how everyone treated her. The story takes you away and that is the best part about this book. Before you know it the book is over.
I would love to read more by this author.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this book for my honest opinion.
