I no longer find safety
inside of her arms.
To know that I ever did
makes me want to
tear my own heart out.
I always do this to myself.
Make a home in the middle
of a war. And this battle
belongs to her, she cares for it
more than me. Her body,
the temple that I once was
able to retreat in. Now,
I’m fleeing from her embrace.
Her body, it betrayed me.
It captured my love for
its own amusement.
But it’s our baby, and this
is how it survives.
