Bookworks Reading - Wed. Feb 26th, 2014

What looks to be the final reading for A Deep & Gorgeous Thirst will be this Wednesday and one of Albuquerque’s best-loved independent bookstores, Bookworks. Think: Drunk Poems punctuated by prizes, a Q&A and signing to follow. Stop by the table to get a free broadside, made by the incomparable Bill Roberts of Bottle of Smoke Press. There were even a few nice words in our underground rag, The Alibi...so many thanks to editor Lisa Barrow for the ink!

One of my living literary heroes, Tony O’Neill had this to say about the book: "Because writing and drinking go hand in hand,  it may seem an impossible challenge for a poet to offer new perspective of this well-worn, symbiotic relationship.  But Hosho McCreesh does, and in his brilliant collection "A Deep and Gorgeous Thirst" he uses subject matter that might feel old and tired in the hands of a less capable poet and turns out poem after poem as exciting and irresistible as the first flush of new desire." If you don’t know Tony’s work -- find it. His poetry collection Songs From the Shooting Gallery is the quintessential Hollywood heroin book.
