Once again, following the releases of TableTop...

Once again, following the releases of TableTop on YouTube had led us to purchase a new game. Last night was our inaugural adventure into Fortune and Glory.
It was a simple, two player competitive game to familiarize ourselves with the rules and mechanics. After being KO’d every round for the first three rounds, I had little hope that I was even a competitor as my opponent easily strode through challenges and picked up glory and artifacts with no impedance.
As things looked dire and all of Central and South America were invaded by Nazis, things took an unexpected turn. A surprising success in Central America put my first artifact in my pocket. From there, we both raced for the same high value score and I managed to eek out a win while my opponent got stalled with a cliffhanger. In departing our little conflict, I managed to lift another artifact out of his possession and realized with a good roll, I could run all the way back to Paris in time to win the game.
One turn later, I was selling my artifacts, counting the Fortune, and winning the game. Such an awesome game and an amazing turn of the tide. He’s already declared a rematch at our next get together.
For a “big box” game, I found Fortune and Glory to be much easier and far faster than I expected. Definitely a great game.
I played a few rounds with my brothers in vanilla mode, then we stepped it up and turned into detailed rules and battling Nazis. This is seriously one of the most fun games I have ever played, with or without others, and the more you play the more depth it has. This, bar none, is one of the best games ever created, and it makes me wet with happiness.
