Re-filling the well -Lynn Style

If you know my reference, you too are a Covey-ite. :)  Basically, it’s a reminder to do things outside your routine, read a good book or otherwise expand your mind with visual stimuli, travel or experiences.

In October, I try to do something unusual for my birthday. Visit the art museum, check out a historic spot nearby (Hannibal, MO one year), or visit an exhibit.

This year, I went to DaVinci Machines II – The “Australian” Machines Exhibition. IMG_20131011_113238_387

The exhibit had working models of DaVinci’s experiments made from his notes he left when he died. 45000 sheets of paper with notes and drawings.

The man known for painting the Mona Lisa also developed the world’s first tank.IMG_20131011_112341_690

He developed hydraulics that are still used in modern machines today.  IMG_20131011_113146_809

And his work with flight was extraordinary.  IMG_20131011_112432_674

Of course, I came away from the exhibit with a renewed sense of history and a story idea.  IMG_20131011_113402_277

That’s the best kind of filling the well day.
