He Waited

I tried to find you

Carefully following walls

Dank shadows listened

As I pleaded and begged

Moist echoes whispered

Responding to my tears

The beast was breathing

Protecting you from me

The devil himself waited

For me to turn and run

The darkness began to cry

Warning me to halt

OH GOD

HELP ME FIND HIM

Breathing angry dragon fire

The darkness exploded

And from the Devil’s tongue

Fell a parade of desperate lies

Falling to my knees I cried

And called my demon by name

And without another sound

Peaceful serenity blossomed

Fields of lilacs and rosemary

Filled the air with epiphanies

And then there was HE, sitting

Just smiling and waiting for me
