Warmth . . . from “MACTUS” 2nd novel in “The Light-Bearer Series” by Emily Guido

download (1)“You always could lighten any situation with humor,” Charmeine started to laugh.
Shane reached to hold her hand and with a sincere look in his blue eyes softly uttered, “I always knew there was something special about you from the very first moment I saw you in the orphanage. I didn’t realize it, but you always acted like a mom. You were continually helping  me with your love and support.”
“I have always loved you, Shane. You know that, don’t you?”
“Yep, even when you would make me see ‘the error of my ways’,” his eyes glinted with a mischievous look.
“Seriously Shane. I wasn’t that bad,” she replied with a smirk.
He reached to hug Charmeine tightly. He whispered, “Char, you were my salvation. I can’t imagine what would have happened to me if I never met you.” He sighed, smiled and shook his head. “Hey, I think the breakfast is cold but I could use some food . . . Mom? Wow, it’s going to be funny getting used to calling you that.”
“Well, get used to it my baby boy.” She handed him a plate of eggs, bacon, cut up fruit and toast. She made a plate of fruit and toast for herself. “I guess it’s going to be pretty hard to explain that I am your mom, and Tabbruis is your father to Sandra, huh? I mean we are all almost the same age.”
download (2)“Nope, not with that voodoo stare Dad has.” He shook his head while taking huge bites, “Uh, Tab, I mean Dad can convince anyone to do anything. Sort of like Obi-Wan Kenobi in Mos Eisley, when he stares down the Imperial Storm troopers to let them pass, you know? I would love to have that trick up my sleeve.” He mock stared at her grinning wide while he was gulping his food down.
While they were eating, Charmeine wondered why Shane had not inherited their powers. Nevertheless, she thought it was better he was a normal human being. Earth was his world since he was a baby. Her mind was flinging question after question one right after another as she was eating.
252834966550682232_qLjqE2rZ_cTabbruis came into the room rubbing his hands together and smiling. Her eyes were raking in every aspect of him. How could I ever think he was a man? He’s more of an Adonis, she thought.
He had already showered, shaved and changed.
Dressed in black jeans and boots, Tabbruis wore a tight fitted black T-shirt which accented his perfect muscles and abs.
His deep, emerald green eyes were deep and hypnotizing.
His dark chestnut hair fell on his forehead and the rest of his multicolored hair was combed back.
Charmeine warmed when his pure, manly scent caught in her nose. The warmth she felt was like an electric current running down her spine.
Tabbruis’ eyes flashed dark green as he noticed her melting with desire.

As I wrote this,
I remembered all the times my mother and family
would comfort me.
We would joke around the kitchen table, all EIGHT of us!
We had each other, and I knew no different.
Families are rarely like that anymore.
Everyone is running to this lesson or that ball game.
But to this day . . .
I remember the family time, and I am warmed still
Lots of love,
