This is the first...

This is the first section of my essay for “In Advance of Air" — the rest uses sound to talk about my relationship to my mom and her death. I wanted to share it to pique your interest (it’s not all depressing! or maybe it is! life is difficult and writing helps) and serve as a reminder that we’re accepting work until the end of February. More details:
Each submission should be roughly 1,000 words. Artwork can span two pages. This is to save space and keep printing costs bearable.
You are welcome to use this as kind of a workshopping space for new stuff or as a “kick my ass into gear” thing to get something you’ve been working on done.
We generally edit for clarity or space. We might send something back if it’s just not getting along with the other pieces or if we think it could use more time.
We usually print in editions of 50 depending on how many contributors there are.
Submissions are going to be due February 28, as I hope to get this laid out and printed by end of March 2014.
Submissions are generally accepted unless we run out of room or, as I said, we suggest you work on your piece a little more.
You don’t get paid (I know!) but you do get a free copy of the chapbook. And new readers! And maybe some new friends.Read more about the project and submission here.
Note no one piece sets the tone for a chapbook and if you are thinking of writing using humor, that is good. And if you’re thinking of writing not using humor, that is also good. And if you’re serious or if you’re silly everything is all ok. Just write. Just make stuff. Be good. Thanks!
it’ll be good. i’m working on a poem about this for In Advance of Air.
