Lattice 6: Confession
I believed as much in myself as others did.
Excessive pride always comes before the fall.
One morning, while on a two-day vacation in the hills where I grew up, on a morning when the countryside was like a sleeping child- still and beautiful- I was sitting in the garden in front of my country house when my life changed utterly.
A beautiful little girl ran up to me and said, holding in her hand a lovely red rose: “Mister, I always play in your garden and talk to the flowers when no one is here. May I play here today?” She stretched out her hand to give me the rose.
(this one has a bit of extra history - as in the writing of it - revealed in the book)
