Chapter 61: Show Off
Weft clambered up beside the burly warrior, all smiles. “Told you I had an apprentice! This is Taweel.”
The first newfoundling elbowed his friend. “He’s big.”
“He is like us,” murmured the second.
Their matched expressions of awe flustered Taweel, but he could remember being impressed by older, more confident members of his order … and craving their acknowledgment. Unable to withhold something as simple as his attention, Taweel extended a hand. “Are you not Guardians? Where is your courage?”
The boys traded grins before accepting his challenge. Rushing into the shadowy alcove, they placed their hands trustingly into his.
