Have you heard of Postcrossing.com?
The first postcard I received!I recently joined 400,000 others on Postcrossing.com to send and receive postcards to people all over the world.
The digital age is awesome! But, as awesome as it is it has literally suffocated the art of writing actually letters. The act of stuffing them into an envelope, sealing it, applying the stamp and writing the recipients address is a lot more work than typing a quick note and pressing the send button. But, think of the person you're physically mailing it to and the joy they get when they open their mailbox only to find an ACTUAL letter (or postcard) addressed to them.
Postcossing.com has made this so easy and fun:
-First - you register your address with them (yeah, I was a reluctant to give my address to 400k people - haha)
-Second - You request an address to send a postcard to, you receive an email with the recipients address, you can write about whatever you want on the back, attach a stamp and send it off!
-Third - once your postcard is received, the recipient registers it and you're address is in the loop to receive a postcard!
-Then - watch your collection grow. (I have punched a hole in the corner of each postcard, put then them on a chain and I hang my postcard collection on a hook for all to see!)
What an amazing way to connect the world! And there are some beautiful, fun, cute, artsy, etc, postcards out there.
Every day I look forward to going to my mailbox to see who in the world has sent me a postcard!
