A poem from my book for you to read

Inspired , by messages at church the last two last Sunday nights about how easy it can be to fall into the trap of coasting along and not actively extending ourselves daily to do Our Lords' work.

Don’t Sit On The Bench

Who, me coach?
I am not good enough to play
You sure don’t want me
 On the field today.

I’ll just sit on the bench
And watch this game
Cheering, my team mates onto fame.

Half time came and went
Down to the wire that game went
When full time arrived
Every ounce of energy had been spent
By those who obeyed
The coach that day

Extra time needed to be played
Which team would win that game
Your team so tired
They didnt find
Energy needed for extra time

Your team that day found no fame.
They did not win that game
Was it because
You chose not to play?

Jesus our coach
Asks us to step up to the plate
To do the special things
He’s got waiting for us
So don’t sit on the bench
Don’t be slow to step up
Get aboard Our Lord's work bus
That way you won't be late.

Our Heavenly Fathers work
Still needs to be done
There are heaps more folk
He wants to bring into
His family home.
