Tell me that you still want me,
even though we both know
that you have moved on to
things that are able to consume
your time more passionately
than my lips were ever able to.
Even if my lips couldn’t do
the proper justice of changing
your mind and making you
want to stay, I know that
my touch was able to
make you feel things that
not even she could make
you feel. Tell me that you
miss me from time to time.
Even though we both know
that you don’t, it would still
sound just as good if you
told me a lie in place of
the crippling truth. I just
want to know that you cared.
Even if I know that you
never did, I would take
any sign of your return
over the sound of you
never coming back.
