Where, oh where have I been?

Les le bon ton rouler!

Let the good times roll!

Hey there! How’s your new year going?

No, I haven’t completely disappeared, but dealing with needs of aging parents requires time and focus. Sadly, I was sick in bed on Twelfth Night and didn’t get to celebrate.(Well, truthfully, I spent a week in bed. Yep, I was that sick.)

I bounced back nicely, thank you. Want to know what helped boost my spirits? Check out my Facebook author page Linda Joyce Author you’ll see the fabulous King Cake that Melissa Klein, author of A Risk Worth Taking, gave me. It made my week!

What is Twelfth Night you ask?

It is exactly twelve nights after Christmas and heralds in Carnival Season, which runs until Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras.

If you go through my blog archives, starting in October 2012 and running through February 2013, I have many posts about the sounds, tastes and events of Carnival. Musical selections from Tab Benoit, Dr. John, Jon Boutte and others. I shared the inside scoop on krewes and all sorts of mystical things.

In the meantime, here are some links of media coverage for the 2014 Twelfth Night celebrations:

Washington Post

Bloomberg Business Week

CBS News

And please stay tuned! Yes, I’m still waiting on the release date for Bayou Bound. I’m hoping (fingers crosses so tight!) the date will be soon. The story opens right after Twelfth Night with Biloxi Dutrey headed home. She’s on a serious mission, but Nick Trahan is causing all sorts of trouble.

In the meantime, a little Mardi Gras Romance is available to you for FREE! The July debut edition of Hidden Desires Romance magazine features my story Behind the Mask. Chalise is determined to win the Mardi Gras costume contest, she needs the money for her business, but Chaz, a rogue dressed as a pirate threatens to ruin everything, even make her walk the plank unless she removes her mask…the one covering her heart.

The February edition of Hidden Desires Romance magazine, available February 1st, will feature another story with Chalise and Chaz.

Annie Annie James Welcome back! I can relate to the effort that goes into caring for an aging parent; my mother was unwell for several years, and I spent a lot of time helping her, off and on, over the years. She was only 58 when she passed in 2012 (can’t believe it has been that long already) so she wasn’t old, but I can still relate.

I’m glad to hear that you are feeling better. Thank you for sharing the information about Carnival; now that is actually the weeklong celebration, which ends with Mardi Gras, is that right?
