For the past few years, winners of the Knight News Challenge have produced handy tools for journalists, policymakers, and everyone in between. You may have heard of some of the best known ones, like DocumentCloud, a tool for analyzing public documents, and Safecast, a project that aims to build a network of air quality sensors.
