--It feels odd to say 'Hambly' or 'the author' on Barbara Hambly's blog, but odd to say 'Barbara' when I haven't even ever emailed Barbara Hambly. I'd really like to start calling everyone Friend [Barbara] or Friend [Hambly], but then everybody would assume things about my religious views. The Soviet Union kind of gave Comrade a bad rep, and if I say Pan/Pani - Polish Mr./Ms., Andrei Sinyavsky wrote about them in a paragraph somewhere about what the zeks (GULAG prisoners) experimented with to call each other, since Comrade was often out and Citizen was what you called the guards - then nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about. It would be so much cooler if spoken sentences came with little spheres of telepathic energy that you could stick citations in.
