New Year . . . Newsletter . . . and Memorable Books of 2013

Happy New Year!

Along with the new year comes new resolutions/goals (two of which I have already broken by day three, yikes! Turns out I really am addicted to buying new books even when I have books I haven't read yet . . . )

As part of my yearly goals I have challenged myself to read another 100 books this year. I am super excited about being able to divulge in so much of the great talent that there is in the M/M romance genre! I only wish I could fit in more books in the year, because I've come to the sad, sad realization that there are just too many awesome things out there to read and logistically I will not manage to get sucked into all these worlds and characters. Nevertheless, I'll give it my best. ;)

But before I really get gripped into the reads of 2014, I would like to sum up my most memorable reads of 2013 . . .

There are in fact many, many great books I read, but these are the ones that I remember most. (In no particular order--and both mm romance and straight too):

1)
The Impetuous Afflictions of Jonathan Wolfe Troubles of Love 2 by Charlie Cochet
One of my favorite mm romance authors. I really enjoy reading her stories. She's an auto-buy author for me!

2) Sarah J. Maas:
Throne of Glass
Crown of Midnight
Favorite straight YA book series of the year. This is like one big twisted fairytale. Think 'what if Cinderella were an assassin?' . . . yeah, fun and I liked the love triangle. Can't wait for book three!

3) C.S. Pacat:
Captive Prince Volume One
Captive Prince Volume Two
My-oh-my YIKES. I loved these. I'm still thinking about them, and I must have dreamed about how the third book will go down at least a half dozen times. Very clever book with a wonderful enemies-to-lovers theme . . .

4)
Fleur De Lis by Isolde Martyn
I'm not big on Historicals, but damn. I loved this. If I had my say, this is how I wished I'd learned about the French Revolution at school. Love the romance!

5)
Maddison Parker:
Sock it to Me Santa
Play Me I'm Yours
What can I say? Another author with awesome talent and a wonderful easy-to-read style. I love how quickly I get into her stories. These two are very sweet and cute stories.

6 Lisa Henry
The Good Boy Boy 1
This had both hot sex and endearing characters. The writing was right up my alley too. ;) Can't wait to read Boy, #2 which is on my 2014 reading list!

7)
Daniel Glattauer:
Love Virtually
Every Seventh Wave
I really love epistolary romance, and this just had me. I gobbled them up one after the other.

8)
Bear, Otter and the Kid, by TJ Klune
I was late reading this one, but I loved it. It's my favorite from this author. Emotional and touching. I was left sighing.

9)
Superhero by Eli Easton
A lot of fun. Sweet and easy to read. . . . This was my first book by this author, and she has other great stories out there too!

* * *

I hope I am as lucky (and I'm sure I will be) with the books I'll read in 2014! Woot!

As well as reading, I will continue to be writing this year too. :D

Of course, I have a few "must writes" this year, one being the final book in my Guardian of the Angels Trilogy . . . This is quite a big book--lots of things must be wrapped up and lots of demons must be killed ;)

I am also halfway through one college-based novel that will hopefully be published in March-April.

For anyone who would like to receive quarterly updates on what things have been published/what things are in progress I now have a newsletter !

Feel free to sign up for it! I promise there will be no spamming, just one newsletter with updates every quarter.

:D

Take care everyone, and let's have a happy and healthy 2014!
