2014 AND COUNTING!

Some writing goals for the new year which just arrived amid a barrage of fireworks exploding above the hills and farmland surrounding my humble abode. I don't put much stock in resolutions, so here are a (very) few goals I have for 2014:

1) Work as hard as I can to support the blog tour for "Deadly Catch: A Mac McClellan Mystery" which kicks off later this month. There will be autographed giveaways, so check back on this blog soon for further details.

2) Work my fanny off to see the release of the second book in my two-part Civil War/Reconstruction saga, "Of Blood and Brothers" is a success (due out March 2014 from Koehler Books).

3) Ditto with my semi-autobiographical novel, "The Private War of Corporal Henson" coming this spring from Stairway Press. "Private War" is a fictional sequel (though about 85% true) to my Vietnam memoir, "The Proud Bastards" which has been in print over twenty years. It deals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and combat veterans. PTSD wasn't front page news during and for many years after the end of the War in Vietnam. In fact, it took the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to finally bring PTSD to the general public's attention. So, maybe this novel's time has come at last.

4) Finish writing the fourth book in my Mac McClellan Mystery series, "Deadly Spirits." Book Two has been sold (to Seventh Street Books); #3 is ready to be submitted to the publisher, and I'm about halfway finished with #4.

5) Last, (but the proverbial not least), find time somehow to get back to reading for my enjoyment. As most writers know, reading is extremely important to keep the old gray matter working properly and productively.

So, there we have it. Just a few goals set that I hope to see fulfilled in the coming year. How about YOU?
