What's in a name?

I'm on the cusp of revising Comet Becky. I have been for a few weeks now, but there's a giant elephant in the room.

I've had several comments back from beta readers suggesting they think it sounds like Comet Becky takes place in the 90s. Even though characters use the Internet, Facebook, smart phones, and tablet computers, something sounds off. One friend asked, "Have you thought about rewriting Comet Becky as though it was in the same sphere as The Fifth Kraut?"
