Is Your Company’s Social Profile Getting Traction?
Social media is something every small and large business should be using.
You have multiple benefits to using social media ranging from free advertising, to providing excellent customer service to your customers, and increasing your word-of-mouth advertising. It is a helpful tool, but one that is often overlooked by businesses.
Just because you have a page, doesn’t mean you’re done. You need to make sure it is getting traction by updating it regularly and using it in the right ways.
Here is a helpful guide for helping your social profiles and social media accounts get more traction.
Updating Social Media Regularly
One of the most important things you can do with your social media profiles is updating them regularly.
If you have it set up but you fail to have a presence, you will lose fans and possibly customers. People want to know you are active and are providing relevant information regularly.
It also helps keep you in the mind of your customers. Don’t just post about your business or for advertising purposes either; reach out to your potential customers and interact with new visitors. Dead social media profiles either don’t get followed, or lose fans very quickly.
Some of the more highly regarded ones, such as Rick Bolander’s profile or even someone like Bill Gates, some of the few to crack the top 100 lists for social media that aren’t entertainment stars.
What to Update the Profile With
If you aren’t sure how to update it regularly, here are some tips for what to post. Ideally, you will post daily, but aim for at least every few days.
Weekly is the very minimum, but more than once a week is going to help you keep your social media profile fresh, including:
New products and services – It is okay to occasionally talk about your own business, but make sure it is not all you update your social media page about. Some good things to talk about are when you have new product lines, new services offered, or other new features of your business or website.
Photos – If you have photos of new products, your website or blog, or a brand new office where you are conducting business, feel free to share them.
Interesting articles and relevant blog posts – If you have relevant blog posts and articles within your industry, but not necessarily about you or your business, share them on your social media profiles. This shows you want to share interesting posts without self-promoting.
Casual interaction - Even with business social media profiles, you don’t only have to talk business. Feel free to ask fans about their holidays or how their summer vacation is going. Get people talking and interact with them.
Contests and promotions – Finally, have some contests and promotions through social media where your fans get the chance at winning stuff for following you. This helps you get more fans and keep your current ones, as a way to appreciate their viewership.
Reasons to Stay Updated
If you want to build traction on social media, you have to maintain your presence.
You need to show you care about who is following you by interacting and posting regularly.
Updating your information, posting links to relevant articles, sharing photos and getting people talking are all helpful things to do.
