Review on Dreaming Fantasy!
"A reading really not bad, and I was totally involved. The Lion's Promise is a mix of love, passion and action that does not go unnoticed. To be the first self-published book by Chiara Cilli, I'd say she did a great job. The book opens with a brief prologue that explains the birth of the shape-shifter, a gift received from a magic stone. And it is something very positive, very often I read books with fantastical creatures that we have no idea how they are born, they are just there. Rightly, the reader wonders where they came from and where they are born, then I would say that on this point Chiara Cilli answered every possible question. Subsequently, the story focuses on the carefree life of the protagonists in the midst of nature, in Tanzania. Unfortunately I was not able to imagine the places, too little and briefly described. I had never read a book set in Tanzania, so here's another point winning for The Lion's Promise. Too bad for the descriptions a bit poor, I could not feel the sun on my face, the smell of the woods and my eyes filled with green. I found the first part of the book maybe a little flat, but definitely needed to show the reader the life of the protagonists. But there are some things that I would like to point out that I have a little annoyance. In the first 70 pages, on each page, the beginning of a sentence is the interlayer / exclamation ( I do not know what to call it ) GOD and JESUS. One thing that really irritated me a lot, since I have counted 1 for each page! Those little words were repeated too many times. Another thing that I did not like is the difficult choice of the author to tell the story from different points of view. Sometimes we are a bit inside the head of Jamila, other Kenan's, others Daren's, all without a logical order that initially tends to confuse the reader.
From the middle of the book on, the pages fly away, one after the other. Full of twists and action that left me breathless! I could not close the book until the action would not lock because I was afraid for the safety of the characters. Jamila is, in my opinion, the most well-managed and described. She's sensual, beautiful, courageous and with a sense of justice. Daren is very simple to understand and interpret his actions are perfectly consistent with his character. With Kenan I had more difficulty getting into his mind. Overall, not entirely evil, full of remorse that perhaps does not want to accept. Inconsistent with himself and complicated. Even the secondary characters are well defined. I'm a little sorry for the last few pages that seem hastily written, everything ends too quickly, or maybe just me that I wanted the story to last longer. The Lion's Promise deserves 4 stars to the story, but in the end I opted for 3 and a half to the point of view of the narrative at times confused and the many God and Jesus repeated too many times."
