The Art of the Giving Tree
The art of giving tree came about some 6 years ago, in 2007 when I first discovered Mile Hi Church. I was directed by a neighbor friend to go visit Mile Hi Church. I was facing some hard times of business failing, father dying and drinking heavily. The first day at Mile Hi I signed up to be part of the Outreach team which is headed by the care ministry. The first project on team was inspired by the Giving Tree tradition. From there the team supports many other projects. To be part of this superior team is what called me sign up the first day and continue to serve. These dedicated individuals who are so passionate in helping families that are struggling due to hardship. This project could not happen without the help of the congregation and the church.
Each year I look forward to the art of the giving tree, especially the time with my kids. every year the kids help with the giving tree project along with two of their friends. They love helping and being part of the project. It gives them a sense of serving others, just as I love being of service.
Being part of the team has become my family, and they inspire me. There support throughout the years has been wonderful, kind and loving. I love each one of them very deeply. At times I’ve had to skip some of the meetings as life seems to get in the way, other times sadness emotions have gotten in the way. I keep pushing forward knowing they will pass. When I first was introduced to this team I could have sworn God had put me in the wrong place. There were mostly women and one other man and I were it. Since then the team has grown to many men and women.
