The Hobbit
I went and saw the latest Hobbit movie over the weekend. Of course I had to go see the 3D high frame rate.
I enjoyed the film, but die-hards might have issue with it. There were a large number of things that go well away from the novel.
Some details I would rather they change, but I enjoyed it more than the first. The first of the trilogy isn't very re-watchable. Too many hokey special effects and questionable direction.
The latest film seems to have fewer of those goofy choices, but you can still find them.
I love the idea of Radagast from Tolkien, but I loathe the way he has been portrayed. For me he is a bit too Jar Jar Binks from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. I wish there were less of him.
The jack rabbit sled needs to go.
I will be checking out the final installment on opening weekend. Hopefully they finish strong.
No Oscar nominations for the Hobbit trilogy. It is a few notches down from Jackson's version of LOTR.
