I want canon queer characters and I want them now

Also: I want the non-het characters to be characters!!!

I want them to be more than their sexuality. I want it to be like, hey, this is Joe. He’s a plumber and a vampire and he’s really funny and kind of awkward and he’s gay.

Because so often it’s, “Ok, fine, here’s Joe. He’s our Token Gay Character. He’s gay, and gay alone. He is irrelevant to the plot. He is young and hot and sassy and that is all. Why isn’t that enough for you people?”
