By C. Michael BennisTwo dangerous assassins from different parts of the world seek a respite from danger in each other’s arms, only to discover their exposure to violence now grows exponentially. Ziv Yadin is Mossad’s foremost assassin who will one day return to Tel Aviv and marry her childhood sweetheart. Then she meets the Argentinian, Julio Navarro, who has the changing effect similar to an aphrodisiac. He stimulates her desires and overpowers her forewarnings of his impending danger. Already it is too late when she sees him kill her two dangerous assailants in two seconds. Julio Navarro’s dossier is so highly classified that to know his identity is tantamount to instant death. Nevertheless, Julio is so smitten with the beautiful Ziv, whose combat talents rival his own, that he quickly forgets there is no place for love in his dangerous life. Julio at once knew he should avoid the Israeli like the plague, but similar to Ziv it was too already too late to put out the flames in his heart. Ziv and Julio are unprepared when Julio’s former love, Claudia Bazan, resurfaces from six-years ago, and begs via messenger for Julio to save her from immanent death in Culiacan. Unable to refuse, Julio travels to save a woman he no longer loves, while Ziv soon follows to rescue the man she can no longer live without. Both Julio and Ziv are quickly in immediate danger… It is 2007, and Culiacán is the most dangerous place on the planet.
What the Reviewers are Saying
A thriller with Tequila Slammer danger.
Format: Kindle Edition Amazon Verified Purchase
At first the book feels a lot like the author’s book Rules of Engagement, a complicated romance, full of interesting fractured personalities, that is, until we reach the Mexican connection and from there it changes from a romance to a thriller, it’s as exciting as The Bridge on coke with a touch of the original NCIS. A very exciting well-written read with women who would scare anyone but the books main character; a complicated man, a combination of great kindness or great ruthlessness. Frankly it’s hard to turn the kindle off and I only did so once because I had to. A wild ride from beginning to end and unlike Rules of Engagement, which is a Dry Martini in a sunlit garden, the pool shimmering and reflecting sunlight, this one is still full of sun, but the drier, harsher sun of a baking desert where you sip your astringent lemon Margarita at your peril.

This is absolutely the best of all of Michael Bennis’s books. I could not put it down–read it start to finish in one day. It is obvious that this love story about two dangerous assassins from different parts of the world is well researched. The descriptions are wonderful, and the story is exciting and fun to read.

Mable and her husband planned to travel by covered wagon to California in the 1860′s. Their family included an infant girl, and two toddler girls. Disaster occurred in Kansas City: Mable’s infant became ill and her husband ran off with a young Indian woman. Mable sent the infant back to family in Illinois (she would later become Mrs. Frank Dunn’s), and the determined Mable and her toddler-girls continued westward in the covered wagon through hostile country where they survived savage indians and ruthless cowboys that beset upon the caravan. Many men and women died during this perilous journey to California and the Pacific Ocean. My grim portrait of Mable was taken sometime after the family’s arrival in southern California where Mable established a horse and cattle ranch. Mable was probably never pretty, but survivor warriors hardly ever are.
